I started smoking pot at the age of 9 and by the time I was 15 it had progressed to drinking beer and shooting up heroin and cocaine. This lifestyle landed me in and out of prison; twice before I was 19. However, it was my last time in prison that I was introduced to Jesus Christ who filled me with a passion and fire that was beyond any drug I had ever experienced. After leaving prison I continued to walk with Christ for 3 years, but the lure of this world consumed me once again. I fell back into addiction which landed me in a terrible accident; I woke up from a coma in the hospital, badly beaten, and in need of two brain surgeries. The doctors predicted death, but God spared my life; even through this, I kept running. Finally I cried out to the Lord! Within minutes, I was introduced to Project Hope where I spent the next year in recovery. Graduating was no easy accomplishment, but God used Project Hope to completely restore my relationship with my kids and entire family. God has performed the miraculous in my life and I am here to testify of His healing power.
My life scripture is Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me, the life that I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
