This is Marsha, at the age of 15 she started drinking which progressed to using crack cocaine. She says, “I loved the way it made me feel.” Then her mother passed away, she was devastated and that just fueled her drinking even more. “I knew I had to get away from my surroundings” Marsha and her sister moved to Missouri with their children. Here God delivered her from cocaine, “I met someone walking to work and they invited me to church. I eventually went and surrendered my life to Christ.” After a while she noticed some of the church members would drink, she says she allowed temptation to get the better of her and started drinking again. Due to her drinking she started losing close friendships and eventually her husband left too. “I was all alone in the apartment waiting to be kicked out on the street. I cried out to God for help.” She moved to Houston where a relative found Project Hope and she soon entered the program. Since being here structure and discipline have been restored in her life, but most importantly she says, “I have reconnected my relationship with God.” Marsha has since graduated Project Hope, she hopes to help others going through similar situations. God in his perfect timing heard Marsha’s cry, He rescued Marsha from alcoholism and restored her life.

The scripture she stands on is Psalms 116:1–2 “I love the LORD, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live.”
